Community Midwives

Ante-natal care is shared between the doctors and community midwives. The midwives hold a clinic offsite for expectant and nursing mums.

They can be contacted at other times for advice on the Maternity Enquiry Line: Telephone 01484 355743 Monday to Friday 9am - 1pm excluding bank holidays.

If you are over 16 weeks pregnant and need urgent care or are worried about you or your baby please contact the Maternity Assessment Centre: Telephone 01422 224392. 

If you are 6-16 weeks pregnant, please contact the Early Pregnancy Unit: Telephone 01422 224415.

If you are under 37 weeks pregnant and think you are in labour; OR booked in to give birth please contact the Maternity Assessment Centre: Telephone 01422 224392.

If you are over 37 weeks pregnant and booked to birth at the birth centre or at home please contact 01422 224417.

After your baby is born, if you have a question about yourself or your baby in the first 28 days following birth, you can telephone 01484 355754. If you need urgent advice and it is out of hours you can telephone the ward that you were discharged from; Ward 4 Telephone: 01422 224249. OR the Birth Centre Telephone: 01422 224417. Or please telephone the Maternity Assessment Centre on telephone 01422 224392.

Community Nurses

The district nurses look after our housebound patients in the community. To contact the district nurses please telephone 0300 304 5555.

Health Visitors

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
